Our Story
Saratoga Cellulose was founded on a simple premise: most homeowners are being sold insulation, not solutions. A contractor shows up, quotes you a number, blows in some material, and leaves. Nobody measures what was there before. Nobody verifies what was installed. Nobody tells you whether it actually solved your problem.
We start by understanding the home, the customer's concerns, and the conditions we can observe before recommending a scope. When the cause of a comfort or performance problem isn't clear, our Home Infiltration Assessment provides deeper diagnostic testing. We recommend the work the house needs — and explain why.
This is a family business based in Ballston Spa, NY. When you call us, you're talking to the people who will show up at your house. We stand behind every project we complete.
Why Cellulose
We specialize in cellulose because it performs exceptionally well in many of the existing-home assemblies we encounter throughout Upstate New York. Cellulose fills irregular cavities that batts leave behind, is made from 85% recycled content, and performs well in cold-climate retrofit applications. We're not a general insulation contractor who installs whatever the distributor is pushing. We know this material, we trust it, and we've seen what it does in real homes. That said, we select materials based on the building assembly — not the other way around.
Credentials & Training
BPI Certified
Building Performance Institute certification — the industry standard for building analysts and envelope professionals. BPI certification requires passing written and field exams covering building science, diagnostics, and energy efficiency.
Blower Door Testing
Trained and equipped to perform residential airtightness testing using calibrated blower door equipment. Required for new construction code compliance and used in diagnostic assessments for existing homes.
Building Science Training
Ongoing training in building science fundamentals — heat transfer, moisture dynamics, pressure relationships, and ventilation. We apply this knowledge on every project, not just the ones that require a test report.
Fully Insured
General liability and workers' compensation insurance. We carry documentation and can provide certificates of insurance for any project.
